Who Let The Dogs Out??

So I am sitting just now, about to start composing a blog post for today.  My computer desk is right beside a window, you see, and out of the corner of my eye I saw something move.  It was definitely an animal butt that was attached to something running REALLY fast!!

My first thought?  Oooo!!  A deer!!  Great blog post material.

Then, upon investigating, I realized it was our crazy dog Arwen - running through the neighbor's hay fields with her tongue a-lolling, scampering through the pasture as fast as she could towards the creek.  UGH!  It makes me so mad when my dogs try to escape because they never stick around the house.  They always try to find something to get into!

Anyhow I immediately ran onto the porch in my pajamas, my mouth full of breakfast.  I screamed out "Arwen!!!" But I am pretty sure it came out more like "Maaarrwwwehhnnnn!!!"  After trying that a few times unsuccessfully, I decided I should chew and swallow and try again.  Then I noticed Jake was out, too.  Double UGH!!  "Jake!!  Arwen!  Get over here!"  They both looked at me like, meh, whatever.  This is way more fun!  However, apparently my voice began to sound convincing (and aggravated) enough though that they came FINALLY and I was able to put them back up.

My predicament comes because I put them in Bill's paddock area while he grazes their big dog yard.  Bill's paddock has held them fine so far, but today they found a way out.  I really need to find a way to keep them in Bill's paddock to keep them away from the chickens since they have a history of eating chickens.  :(  Oh, doggy drama.  But we'll figure it out!  Soon I hope Bill's entire pasture will be fenced and they can have the run of that also, which I know they will love.

Here is what it looks like when a collie says, "I am sorry momma!!"
Arwen's mouth gets big.. lol.. I think she is trying to sound out the word SORRY!

Jake just gets a goofy look on his face.
Meanwhile, Gypsy was watching and I am pretty sure laughing...
Haha dogs got in trouble!

  1. I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I am to hear that your dogs eat chickens, too. I'm not happy about you losing chickens, of course. I thought I was a horrible animal owner for not being able to keep my dog from doing it. I can keep them out of the coop, but keeping the chickens in has proven difficult. We're hoping our new plan works. The poor things won't be mostly free range anymore, but they should be able to survive their bad choices and coyote invasion.

    1. Haha! Ugh, dogs and chickens. Mine have actually been really good of late, they often are in the same pen together because I can't seem to keep the chickens out of the dog yard no matter what I do. I am always wondering when I am going to find another dead chicken though. But my fingers are crossed! Maybe we have gotten them over it!
