Forest-Theme Nursery
As you might have suspected would happen eventually, my blog is taking a little turn in its development. Along with posts about our animals, plants, and nature I am also going to include some more family-oriented posts since we are expecting our first baby! Today I am posting the first post of this kind on this blog.
For our son's nursery, we wanted to do a forest theme since we love the outdoors and animals so much. But we also wanted it to be simple! I just felt like I wanted the nursery to reflect how I hope to raise our son - in a simple, no-clutter sort of way. Straightforward and direct! So that is what we did, and I have to say I just adore it! I couldn't be happier with the results.
We started with some unused paint that was taken to a hardware store and mixed into the color we were aiming for. Super cheap! Then we added some tree decals for about 50$ that I purchased online. Again, super cheap and easy!
All that was left to do after the painting and tree-decals was to add the furniture! We were gifted just about everything for our shower from very generous and sweet friends and family, so total cost of the nursery for us was very minimal for us! But you could easily re-create this look by shopping around at resale shops or accepting hand-me-downs. I am all about bargains!
As you can see, I decided to go with a simple fitted sheet for the crib instead of a fancy crib set. I love how this turned out, and according to a lot of studies it is a lot safer than all the comforters, crib bumpers, and other bulky items in crib bedding sets!

Got this organizer on sale at Target! I think it was about $50. |

The nursery is beautiful, but my favorite part is that you didn't waste money on a fancy, dangerous crib set. So exciting!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! Room is adorable.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, and looking good!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Cade's nursery. I think the same thing - simple, clean, and straightforward...that's all a baby needs! :) I think the tree decals are a nice touch, and I really like the grey wall color. If we have a boy, this nursery will definitely be our inspiration. Of course, we might have a superhero nursery because my husband loves them so much. The crib is just perfect...I don't understand buying so much for a crib when all they really need is a fitted sheet. Good idea.
ReplyDeleteI'm just so happy for you and Ben!
