Mrs. Potts - The Queen of Broody

Mrs. Potts is definitely broody again!  I am just going to let her have her way - if I move her eggs like last time I know she will move them to underneath the brooder house (which I wish she was in now) and if I move them from there she will probably move them out into the woods somewhere and I do not want that.  So, more chicks we shall have soon!  I am okay with that though, especially since we were recently hit by some kind of predator that wiped out five members of our flock, most of them being Mrs. Potts' babies.  I also have some folks that I know of wanting some chickens, too!
Jake is being such a good boy, and Arwen too, but I just had to share this adorable picture of Jake.  He is so calm with the chickens and watches them like a good collie should.  You would never suspect he ever killed and ate one almost a year ago!
"Yes mama, I know I'm good."
This is the look I get from the geese (except usually there are two more pairs of eyes) when they are hungry.
"Feed me or I peck the glass."
Our tomatoes!  There were more but we ate them already haha!  And yes, they are as good as they look.  Yum, yum, and YUM!!  And we have more to come!  I am so glad our tomatoes came through this year.  Last year we had an awful drought and lost almost all of our plants, harvesting only a couple of tomatoes.
And just some chicken chattering:
"Did you HEAR Mrs. Potts is broody AGAIN?"  "I'll say, that woman..."
Have a great day y'all!

  3. OK, I'm all caught up now after my vacation. You've been busy! The tomatoes look fantastic! Ours are still green. The goose photo is hilarious. So fun to have baby chicks in the coop. Hope they all hatch.

  4. Awww...I love Jake's sweet face and that goose peeking through the window! Those tomatoes look good, but I've never enjoyed eating tomatoes for some reason! Can't wait for Mrs. Potts to have her babies so that we can help name them! You should totally do a naming contest of some type. :)

    1. A naming contest would be really fun. If only I could get Mrs. Potts to let me take a photo of each one! She is kinda over-protective lol :D

  5. Great post ... wow on those tomatoes !
Our chickens have been broody this year too ~ 25 chicks hatched! As you could see by my recent post, the roosters are content sitting on the little horse while the hens sit on the eggs. Lol
Thanks for stopping by the farm :)
